“Big Beauty – This beauty of a bull elk was taken by Missouri hunter Jon Williams hunting from the cabin in the Ohio Creek Valley. ‘It’s the best bull I’ve seen come out of here for many, many years,’ said longtime Gunnison enthusiast Randy Clark of Trader’s Rendezvous. He measured the rack at a 365 on the Boone and Crockett scale. Williams was a guest of Georgia Kelley and Walter Keith of the Rockin’ 3AR hunting lodge.”
We would love to have you come and stay at our cabin as a base camp for hunting. Meals can be arranged. We are located in the middle of several large ranches with access unit 54, a perfect locale to hunt for elk, mule deer or bear. Here is what Winchester/ Fieldline Pro Staff has to say:
Georgia and Walter
I wanted to drop a note to thank you for the gracious hospitality that you extended during our recent Winchester/Fieldline Pro Staff elk hunt. It is a rare occurrence when four hunters who have zero knowledge of an area can all successfully fulfill their tags one hundred percent. This speaks of the property itself and the potential it holds.
Our Fieldline Pro Staff whole-heartedly endorses the property for hunting. It is truly a fair chase opportunity that demands that the hunter must “hunt” for their animal under normal conditions rather than the all too often “canned” or pickup hunt that is all too frequent today.
All members of the team saw numerous elk daily and had multiple opportunities. The bear sign was incredible. I would be glad to be used as a reference for your fine facilities. The information that Walt provided prior to the hunt was invaluable. The utilization of aerial as well as topographical maps to orient one to the property was key in the group’s success.
The only unfortunate circumstance is that we did not have a video crew to record the hunts. Three of the four bulls taken were taken after exciting calling sessions that wold have lended themselves to being excellent video footage.
The setting is truly a splendid, breathtaking site, one could not ask for a more beautiful location. The ranch’s proximity to the town of Gunnison makes it a natural for those who want to fly in. We took advantage of the central location and made a sightseeing side trip to Crested Butte, Montrose, and Durango.
Again, it was a pleasure to have the acquaintance of yourself and Walt and hopefully we will see you next year.
Sincerely yours,
Doug Harper
